in the light of the newest tumblr purge, a lot of sfw content has been unjustly flagged by tumblr as explicit. all of us are here sharing the screenshots of this small dick energy. if you see a post that has been wrongfully tagged, take the time to shoot the OP a quick message (or send them an ask if they have their DMs closed) and link them the post you saw because while staff said they’d be notifying the OPs if their post got flagged, it’s not happening to all of us. my edits, for example, got flagged on accident and I didn’t get an email. I would have never known had I not seen a screenshot of my gifs. please help your creators out in this dumbass time.
you know a joke that never EVER gets old is when a character says smth like “I will NOT go to [place] and that is FINAL” and then it cuts to them in that place I eat that shit up every single time
photoshop when I go to save a gif: 3.023 Mb me, trying to reduce the size: deletes 40 frames, decreases brightness, ups the contrast, crops canvas, makes small offering to a local deity photoshop: 3.022 🙂
what’s killing tumblr and the activity on this site isn’t the website attacking us, it’s the fact no one uses the reblog button anymore, the ratios of likes to reblogs is staggering and liking shit is nice but if we’re not gonna reblog it then what’s the point of even making content? what’s the point of even coming on here? if i just wanted to like shit i’d use pinterest. no tumblr isn’t perfect, no they have done things that seem fucked up on the surface (but totally legal underneath if you read the rules) but the fact no one supports each other’s content anymore is the reason this website is dying. and i say, that’s all our fault collectively not tumblrs.
people have been talking of the likes/reblog ratio and that is a damn problem but i think it’s even more than that… a good gifset with over 1k notes has roughly prob 700 likes and 300 reblogs and i feel like that’s because people are so damn worried about keeping it to their aesthetic or trying to look cool like. you like something? fucking reblog it. who cares if that celebrity said 1 problematic thing 2 years ago. who cares if that show isn’t popular. who cares if this movie isn’t the one people are blogging about. you like it? go for it, have that fucker on your blog. blog about what makes you happy. either it be memes or old shows/movies or celebrities people don’t care about anymore or trash posts or poetry. blog about what you like, not what people like or want to see. tumblr is the one social media that doesn’t necessarily rely on your appearance to make you popular so why the hell would you bring that into account here
characters hugging each other after one or both of them have been through hell
character cradling their significant other’s face while they kiss
character says something hurtful. later on in the movie they are in a similar situation and say something kind instead.
self sacrifice
griefstricken women (who under normal circumstances wouldn’t hurt a fly) lashing out and striking the person responsible for the loss of their loved one
ugly crying
characters struggling to talk because they’re about to cry
characters reuniting with someone whom they thought were dead
this is a shoutout to all the gifmakers out there. you are appreciated. your work is valued. your content is the type that is consumed through merely scrolling, so you don’t get comments. you don’t get much praise. feedback is nonexistent. but you’re appreciated. you have talent. tumblr and fandom wouldn’t be the same without you. you are the life and soul of tumblr.
