Hottest of hot takes, Heimdall is literally the only competent Asgardian, he’s the only one, he’s the entirety of the functioning government

Odin: (Goes off to Norway to die)

Thor: (Laying facedown in garbage) I LIVE HERE NOW

Loki: (Getting drunk with the Grandmaster) WHEN IT’S TIME TO PARTY I WILL ALWAYS PARTY HARD

Asgard: (ON FIRE)

Heimdall: (actually rescuing people from Hela’s rule, sheltering hundreds or maybe thousands of refugees, keeping her from accessing the bifrost, dealing with Evil Skeletons) NO ONE EVER HELPS ME IN THIS FUCKIN HOUSE

The Led Zeppelin song actually was tagged right from the very
beginning in the pitch that I did. I did a sizzle reel, and kind of just
cut together a bunch of scenes and shots from films that I loved and things that I
thought tonally might help show the feeling of the film, and the whole
thing was set to ‘Immigrant Song’ by Led Zeppelin. So, that was right from the beginning. I was amazed that
they hadn’t used that song in the past, because it feels like it was
written for the Thor films. After [Marvel] gave me the job, they said we should actually do some research and find out about getting that song, just in case we want to use it. Amazingly, they got the song for the trailer and
then we also got to use it twice in the film, to amazing effect. It’s
just one really awesome song that happens to be perfect for these two
moments in the film. — Taika Waititi

so i finished rewatching thors 1 & 2. despite all of the hand-wringing/glee (depending on your personal preference) about the torching of thors 1 2 and sweeping the ashes under the rug for thor 3, the arc for thor across all three of them feels pretty complete. hubris + arrogance, fall from grace, realizing he’s been doing it all wrong, setting off to figure out how to do it right, finally assuming the throne with a stronger understanding of what it means to be king. also, figuring out how to control/understand his own power, instead of relying on or lusting after the symbols of said power (hammer, the throne), which is a pretty good metaphor for the whole thing. nice
