Last week, 19 towns across Colorado voted to allow the exploration of creating a local, public alternative to expensive private providers.

Fort
Collins voters went the furthest, passing a measure to finance an
assessment of starting a city-owned broadband utility, which would aim
to provide faster service at a cheaper price. That means residents could
have a say in whether a new public network maintains the principle of
net neutrality, whatever the FCC decides in the future.

That’s what is going to happen if we let Ajit Pai, the FCC chairman, go through with repealing Title II (AKA Net Neutrality).

Simply put, without Net Neutrality, Internet Service Providers like Comcast, Verizon, and AT&T will be able to “bundle” websites much like cable ON TOP OF paying for internet connection. “Want access to Netflix AND Tumblr? Get the Entertainment Package! $40 a month. What about Amazon and Ebay? Add an extra $20 a month to get the Shopping Package.”

Not only will they be able to bundle websites and charge more, they will also be able to censor and block websites that they don’t agree with entirely.

THIS WILL BE THE END OF INTERNET AS WE KNOW IT.

For business owners, it will be even worse. Ex: Comcast will ask Amazon to pay high fees to be available in a low-cost package, fees that websites like Poshmark or Etsy will not be able to pay. Therefore, only Fortune 500’s will be available to web users at a low cost. Say goodbye to Etsy (unless you’re willing to shell out $70 a month for the “All-Inclusive” package).

Most importantly, VOTE. This should not be something that is so clearly split between the political parties as it affects all Americans, but unfortunately it is.

The Led Zeppelin song actually was tagged right from the very
beginning in the pitch that I did. I did a sizzle reel, and kind of just
cut together a bunch of scenes and shots from films that I loved and things that I
thought tonally might help show the feeling of the film, and the whole
thing was set to ‘Immigrant Song’ by Led Zeppelin. So, that was right from the beginning. I was amazed that
they hadn’t used that song in the past, because it feels like it was
written for the Thor films. After [Marvel] gave me the job, they said we should actually do some research and find out about getting that song, just in case we want to use it. Amazingly, they got the song for the trailer and
then we also got to use it twice in the film, to amazing effect. It’s
just one really awesome song that happens to be perfect for these two

Stop what you’re doing and save net neutrality

This is a big deal guys. Net neutrality is set to be killed any day now. But we can still fight back. By texting “resist” to 504-09, you can send an email and fax for free to your congressmen. This is absolutely *free* to do and a bot will even assist you with the message. Don’t know what to say? No problem! I found this posted elsewhere and used it myself:

“Net Neutrality is the cornerstone of innovation, free speech and democracy on the Internet.Control over the Internet should remain in the hands of the people who use it every day. The ability to share information without impediment is critical to the progression of technology, science, small business, and culture. Please stand with the public by protecting Net Neutrality once and for all.”

This is so incredibly easy to do, it took me less than 5 minutes. We are the only thing that stands in the way of the FCC, let your voice be heard!
